Why I love New Orleans: the Gifts

New Orleans has a reputation for being a big weekend city.  Come here on a Friday and leave Sunday after recovering from an insane Saturday night and a brunch Sunday morning that changes your thoughts on crawfish cream sauce and eggs.  While over brunch, you and your friends scroll through pictures from the previous night in your phone and social media statuses only giving each other looks of shame and embarrassment before laughing for 30 seconds straight.  What a time!

This is the story of so many visitors to New Orleans but they gained so much more and did not even know it.  While in the French Quarter they were exposed to over 300 years of history.  From eating beignets near the St. Louis Cathedral or strolling past one of the oldest restaurants in the country (Antoine's), you are shown history at every turn.  Not to mention, seeing jazz clubs, where some of the legends of music have performed - to bars and speakeasies where the drinks are as famous as the French Quarter itself.

And that is why I love New Orleans.  Because of the gifts it gives you.  Buying a souvenir or a trinket is a wonderful thing and there is nothing like a keepsake to remember a good time.  But when a place can provide a good time and educate you with it's gifts, how could you not fall in love?

I am Jonathan Floyd and I am one of the owners of Box of Care.  We are a New Orleans based care package company that puts the best gifts of the city in a box.  In our care packages, we truly try to encompass what it is like to be in and from New Orleans and want every recipient to feel that joy/experience.  Both owners are Kenner, LA natives but spend most of their time in the city and know all the ins and outs.
